Worship
We worship on Sundays at 9:00 a.m. in a liturgical style, meaning we
follow a traditional order of service with hymns led and a pipe organ. The liturgy helps us focus on
God as we confess our sins, receive His forgiveness, pray, praise, give
thanks, and hear in the reading of the Bible what God has done and
continues to do for us today. We celebrate the Lord's Supper weekly and
believe in the words of our Lord; namely, "this is my body... this is
my blood," (Christ is truly present in the sacrament-not symbolically)
and "given and shed to forgive your sins." The Lord's Supper is offered
to repentant sinners who desire to be forgiven, trust in the words & promise of Christ and desire to be part of our
fellowship. Lutherans love to sing, so music is an important part of
our worship. We have a fine choir, several beautiful solo voices and a
host of people who play musical instruments.
In addition to our traditional service, we invite you to our Contemporary Worship at 10:30am. Led by a music team, the setting of this service has been described by worshipers as a "casual" or less-formal service. Several families with special-needs children enjoy this service as their children are welcome to step out as needed without worry of distraction. We follow a similar order of worship as in our traditional service, yet the music is more contemporary, with lyrics and service components projected on-screen.
Special Seasonal Services
In the course of the year we also worship on days other than Sundays:
- Wednesday Dinners & Devotion at 6pm during the season of Advent (between Thanksgiving and Christmas)
- Christmas Eve Family Service and an 11pm Candlelight Service
- Wednesday Lenten Services (40 days prior to Easter) also begin with a meal at 6pm, followed by a special service such as the Order of Evening Prayer/Compline/Vespers and incorporates Chancel dramas to deliver the message.
- Maundy Thursday (April 5, 2012) Seder Supper. Join us for a very special meal as we explore and learn about the Passover celebration as the setting in which our Lord Jesus instituted His Holy Supper. A meal is inlcuded and tickets are required.
- Good Friday Services (April 6, 2012)
- "Zuberfest" is a special outdoor "Church on the Farm" worship service at Zuber Farm in Mendon. Pastor Clayton Zuber, Lutheran Church of the Epiphany, and St. Mark join in hosting this wonderful worship experience: we board hay wagons and ride to a
scenic hilltop where we worship under the sky, followed by an
old-fashioned dish-to-pass picnic in the barn. (For dates, you can sign up to receive CrossRoads Newsletter)
